March 9-13 week Starting third trimester

Foundation 1 8th grade First Hour
Students will be briefed Monday the 9th.  They will be given instructions on what we will be doing for the trimester.  We will be starting the first project this will be the Organic Form.  We will be using the large thick paper and drawing two rectangles.  Students will be learning about measuring, shapes, and form using lines to create contour forms giving depth.  They will be using paint, and pencils, along with learning about contrast. This assignment will take up most of the week and we will critique the assignment on Friday or Monday of the next week.

Foundation 2 9th graders this is Third and Fifth Hours.
Students will be introduced to the class and start right away on what the elements of art and principles of design are in art. The will work this whole week learning the importance of breaking down assignments into basic lines and shapes then continue with the details.  We will be focusing on the steps in drawing a composition and then working to accomplish these.  The first assignment will be upside down man and scale and proportions, this will help teach lines and shapes as well as proportions.  They will be introduced to the notes and be able to take them and be prepared for the first note test.  We will also be doing Texture and Creativity starting on Wednesday or Thursday. These first assignments are part of learning a basic foundation of learning about art and how to manipulate lines.

Drawing 1 9th grade Fourth Hour
Students will need to have a sketch book for part of the work we will be doing in class.  This will also be work that will be given as homework.  Students first assignment deals with lines, and shapes.  They will learn about the importance of drawing to proportional strength. We had a pretest.  This is information they should know and be able to do in class. Students should be willing to put forth their strengths to improve and perfect their drawing skills.

Language Arts 8th grade Sixth Hour
We will be continuing with Tom Sawyer.  Some students have had other teachers and are either finished with the unit or a head of where we are.  But this will only help them to do well with the information we are working on in class.  Some of the information will be new to those students who have finished the book but those who are just ahead we will soon catch up to the section they finished last trimester. We will be viewing the movie "Tom and Huck" which is a Disney version of Tom Sawyer.  It is rated PG and parents should be expecting a permission slip they will need to sign for their student to view it.  For those who do not get permission they will be doing alternate research in the library.  The closer it comes more information will be forth coming.
