English
Course Description:
Students will study elements
of grammar, usage, mechanics, and literature. Students will also practice and
master a variety of writing styles, Research paper and descriptive essay. My-access will be used along with the six
traits.
Major Course Goals:
Students will master the
state core expectations for reading, writing speaking, and viewing. To
accomplish these goals, students will read one novel per trimester and complete
a research paper dealing on the Holocaust.
Literature,
videos, and other materials used other than district adopted materials:
Anne Frank the play along
with videos that go along with it.
Notes Regarding
Expectations and Guidelines for Attendance and Tardies:
Our class will adhere to all
Bear River Middle and Box Elder School district policies. Students will be considered “on time” if they
are seated in an assigned seat with all materials needed for class (pen,
pencil, paper, binder, books, assignments, etc.) Students who come to class
unprepared will be given a tardy if they need to leave class to retrieve
something. They are to also stay in seat
until roll has been taken.
Dress Code Policy: No piercings
other than earrings, no extreme hairstyle or colors and no costumes other than
dress-up days. No low necklines, low
pants these must cover seating area. No
high skirts, anything that takes away from our school’s learning is not
accepted.

A 93 -100, B- 80

Make-up work policy:
Make-up work must be completed within five school days
of an excused absence unless other arrangements are made. No make-up is allowed
for non-excused absences. Work that is more than a week late will not receive
full credit. Students will need to
correct their own work especially when turning it in late. Non-scored assignments will receive a “0”
score.
Class rules and/
or Expectation:

Punctuality - be in your assigned seat at the bell with all
materials.

Preparation – have a pencil, pen, paper, proper books and any
work due. No one will be allowed out of class to get these items except to be
given a tardy. Leave backpacks on floor; you may have a light jacket, no more
is needed in class.

Courtesy – maintain a positive interaction with Ms Ewell and
all students
·
Performance – listen and follow instructions when they are given
and complete all assignments in a timely manner. Don’t get behind it will end
you up in lunchtime tutoring.

Self-Control – refrain from any distraction or destructive
behavior and respect the rights and property of others.

teaching staff will make the changes in curriculum, instruction and/or
assessment that are necessary in order to provide access for a student with a
disability. Please notify Ms. Ewell if your student has special needs not
already outlined through IEP or 504 plans.
